Nintendo Switch’s Joy-Con controllers are decent, but not perfect. One of the biggest issues (other than joystick drift) is the lack of a dedicated D-pad on the left side of the Joy-Con. Fortunately, Hori’s Switch D-pad Controller addresses this shortcoming, replacing the four directional buttons on the left side of the Joy-Con with a single t-shaped D-pad like the ones on Switch Pro Controller and old Nintendo consoles. The Hori Switch D-pad Controller comes in several versions, but A Super Mario themed version is sold on Amazon Only $19 (down from $30) for Black Friday 2023.

Unlike other Joy-Con replacements, Hori’s Switch D-pad controller is just a left Joy-con, not both left and right pads – meaning you’ll have to keep using your right Joy-con. That said, the Hori Switch D-pad Controller is similar in design to the standard Joy-con – minus the D-pad and the unique color – and is officially licensed by Nintendo, so while it’s a regular Joy-con, it feels will be Play in portable or handheld modes. Hori Switch D-pad controller works with standard Nintendo Switch and OLED Switch models.
