Dragon Ball Creator’s Sand Land is getting an animated series on Hulu

Hulu is slated to release Sand Land: The Series in spring 2024, according to the streaming service. The anime, a sequel to the 2023 film Sand Land, takes viewers to explore a world struggling with water scarcity and oppressive rule.

Voiced by Mutsumi Tamura as Fiend Prince Beelzebub, Kazuhiro Yamaji as Sheriff Rao, Chō as Thief, Satoshi Tsuruoka as General Are, and Nobuo Tobita as Supreme Commander Zeo, the series is directed by Toshihisa Yokoshima and Hayashi Mori from Akira’s original story. has adapted Toriyama – Creator of Dragon Ball and Dr. Slump. Part of the synopsis reads: “Sheriff Rao, tired of suffering under the king’s rule, arrives to help the demons of Sundland, and together they set out on a journey to discover the ‘Legendary Spring.’

The Sand Land anime adaptation was released after Bandai Namco’s action-adventure game was revealed last summer at the 2023 Summer Games Festival. The game invites players to navigate and survive a vast desert environment by relying on their strength, power and vehicles to defend against the world’s many threats. The original manga ran in Weekly Shōnen Jump from May to August 2000, and Shueisha collected it into a standalone volume in November 2000. Viz Media then serialized Sand Land in North America through the English Shonen Jump magazine in 2003, and subsequently published it as a single. graphic novel in December of the same year.
