The Umbrella Academy is returning for one final season, and Netflix has just released a non-exclusive teaser featuring the main cast. Netflix has also released an official poster for the season, which features grid-map-style artwork and the tagline “Final Timeline.”
The teaser shows the cast behind the scenes, including shots of a large table read. While the cast is being asked what fans can expect from the new season, don’t expect any concrete details about the final plot or storyline. As Five actor Aidan Gallagher says, “They can expect us in marketing material to try and dance around and excite people without saying anything new.”
Perhaps the most solid hint we’re getting for the new season is Amy Raver-Lampman, who plays Alison Hargreaves, promising that some “incredible new characters” will join the show’s large cast, which also includes new villains.
The new poster also gives only a small hint at the plot of the final season, titled “Final Timeline.” The poster shows the messy timeline of Umbrella Academy drawn as a graphical grid map, with the events of the previous three seasons as the highlights.
The previous seasons of Umbrella Academy were littered with time travel and multiple timelines, with the end of Season 3 landing the Hargreaves family on a new version of Earth unlike anything they’ve ever seen. It will be interesting to see how the final season weaves together its various complex plot threads and resolves the stories of its sprawling cast.
The fourth season of The Umbrella Academy will be released in 2024.
